Bug Club is a personalised online reading world for 21st century children. It mixes printed books with eBooks and interactive teaching tools to teach children to read and inspire in them a love of reading. It's an extremely popular programme in UK primary schools but popularity alone isn't enough of an endorsement for schools to invest in it. Bug Club's parent company Pearson needed to be able to demonstrate that Bug Club really delivers improved reading performance.
I was asked by the Bug Club team develop a white paper on the effectiveness of the programme. After presenting an initial concept design, I conducted case study interviews with teachers, wrote and edited the guide and project-managed the production of a 24-page efficacy report which is now used widely by Pearson and in schools to demonstrate the effectiveness of the programme.
